joimejia writes "Good Day fellow neighbors. I am happy and proud to report to you that I have successully installed my first rain barrell under a down spout gutter at my house. Incredibly, in one night, in less than 24 hours, it was filled with 55 gallons of clear, cool, rain water. I am truly amazed.
Imagine if I had one for the other three downspouts around my house? The spigot at the bottom works the same as any other, allowing me to attach a garden hose to wash the car, water plants, rinse the drive way, etc., even water plants that will eventually be showing up in our islands once our newly formed landscaping committee comes up with their insightful vision for xeriscaping
with children in mind.
If any one else is interested in see taking a peek, please don't hesitate to stop on by.
Kind regards to all. Joi Mejia 6681 Segovia Cir N"

joimejia writes "I really think it's time we get serious as a community and stand for something important. We can still look good and be responsible with our water consumption. I have walked this neighborhood and have fournd many time our otherwise fine neighbors washing their cars in the middle of the day when 80% of that water was evaporating into the hot street. Or sprinklers were left running at 9 or 10 a.m. on a weekend.
Come on, people, wake up and smell the coffee. Are we that apathetic to the fact that THE DRINKING WATER IS RUNNING OUT? Did anyone read a newspaper in the last week?
I would like to challenge my fondest of home owners to find the most colorful of flowers that also happen to be xeriscape and butterfly friendly. They are lantana, porterweed, milkweed. jatropha, penta, and plumbago to name a few. These are hearty and will last long after the mild weather is gone and the impatiens have to be plucked and thrown away, water wasted.
We need to set an example in our community that it is possible to beautify our land without exhausting our resources. We can live along side with nature in peace without causing harm to the delicate ecosystem that was here long before we ever were.
Come on Stoneridge Lake Estates! I challenge you to join me. Anybody interested in a Rain Barrel making class?"
